OUR OTHER HALF
This page is dedicated to the spouses and families of our MTIs. The sacrifice made by our loved ones is no less significant than our own. Without this support, many of us would not have, or be able too, complete a successful tour as an MTI. Don't ever underestimate the power of a supportive home life. Send your photos to the web master for posting. Any family members that served your tour 'with you' at Lackland. Please include the name(s), year and Squadron, as well as any comments.---Xmti1@comcast.net

Ross George: This photo of my wife "Babie" and me was taken at my USAF Senior NCO Academy Graduation Class 91-D, in Montgomery, AL, June 1991. We arrived in San Antonio, TX in April 1979 from Clark AB, Philippines. We'd had been married for only 2 years at the time. She had a daughter who was 5, we had one son who was about 20 months old, and she was pregnant with our youngest daughter Catherine, who was born at Wilford Hall shortly after I graduated ITB in 1979. I was assigned to the 3701BMTS. I was a SSgt-selectee when I arrived in BMTS, and sewed it on during ITB. We lived in a dinky little 2 bedroom apartment in Rainbow Hills. We toughed it out there for 4 years, and left San Antonio in May 1983 for Fort Meade, Maryland. We returned to Kelly AFB (Security Hill) in 1989 where I served at the Joint Electronic Warfare Center during the first gulf war/Operation Desert Shield/Storm. We stuck together through thick and thin, including a 2-year tour at Keflavik, Iceland, and overall, had a great career as an AF family. My wife has been a terrific mother, and the source of my motivation and inspiration for almost 30 years. She certainly adds ALL the class to my act! I retired 1 Jan 1997, and we now live in Orlando, Florida. |

Daniel R. Varga: Here is a picture of me and my
wife Terri taken at the Air Force Ball in Charleston SC. She was with
me when I was a Marine DI and that experience helped us get through
my tour as an MTI. Without her support I wouldn't have been as successful. |

Tim Johnson, Deborah, Andy & Casey - 3704 BMTS 1984 - 1987.
We arrived at Lackland after a 3 year tour with the 2187th Comm Group
at Aviano, Italy. Andy started 1st grade, Casey (born in Vicenza, Italy)
was two years old and Deborah (a working mom) was 75% of my success
as an MTI. We left Lackland in 1987 and PCSed to Vandenberg in California.
I dreamed of my return to BMT and the MTIA has made that dream come
true. |
